Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel has denied having links with the arrest and trial of the Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Senator Bassey Akpan. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC is currently prosecuting Senator Bassey over Alleged graft and he would soon undergo trial.
Governor Udom Emmanuel however said that he knows nothing about his arrest and trial, reacting to the media reports that he is involved in the trial and arrest of Bassey, he said that he has nothing to do with it adding that the anti graft agency is only exercising it’s responsibilities.
Governor Udom urged the perpetrators of the media report to face their cases and sort themselves out adding that he came only for governance in the state and his objective is to bring dividends for the good people of Akwa Ibom state.
The Governor said that lately, he had been receiving calls from associates and friends that he had involvement in the jailing of a governorship candidate.
In his words, I have been reading on internet how some people are saying I want to jail a governorship candidate, it’s a lie, I am not that type of a Governor, I don’t even know what kind of case he has with EFCC.
