Akwa United Chairman Commends Gov. Emmanuel on Sports Development in AKS

… Promises Optimal Performance in the Upcoming football Season

The developmental strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the Sports Sector has received the recommendation of the Management of Akwa United Football Club through the Club’s Chairman, Elder Paul Bassey who doubles as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports.

Elder Bassey gave the recommendation during an interactive Session between Akwa United Football Club and members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) yesterday at Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo.

expressed dissatisfaction on the part of players in the last league, noting that a good number of professional players from other Clubs across the Country have been recruited to put the team on the right track ahead of the new season.

Regardless of the last league’s performance, Elder Bassey maintained that Akwa United has become a Brand as long as football is concerned in Nigeria and encouraged the fans, State Government to keep faith in the Club that the team will do it’s best to ensure that the trophy returns to the State.

The Chairman further disclosed that Akwa United matches would henceforth attracts gate fees as what is obtainable worldwide and to show some level of commitment on the part of spectators.

He However called for sponsorships from individuals and corporate organizations for a better service delivery.

The Senior Special Assistant announced that the club will not tolerate any form of indiscipline from any player noting that discipline is a vital ingredient in football.

The Chairman lauds the supportive role of members of Sports Writers Association especially in their publicity and constructive criticism that help put the club in order.

On his part, the Head Coach of the Club, Ayodeji Ayeni said that preparations are in top gear from the simple to the complex ahead of the 2022/2023 NPFL.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,( SWAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Mr. Emmanuel Akpan said that it was ideal for fans to pay ticket fees to watch matches as that is being obtained in other Clubs across the Country maintaining that the plan was a welcome development for Akwa United.

He thanked the management of the Club for placing premium on the welfare of players and members of SWAN, pledged more cooperation and support to ensure the Club’s victory ahead.
