Court Dismisses Forgery Suit Against A’Ibom PDP Guber Candidate

Afederal high court sitting in Uyo has dismissed a forgery suit against Umo Eno, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State.

Akan Okon, a former aspirant of the PDP, had dragged Mr Eno to court over alleged falsification of his 1981 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result; 1983 General Certificate of Education; voter’s card and birth certificate.

Mr Okon urged the court to disqualify the governorship candidate who enjoys the support of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

But in a judgement on Friday, Justice Agatha Okeke dismissed the case for want of merit while awarding a N15 million cost to the defendant.

“All the claims made by the plaintiff were based on assumptions and suppositions,” the judge held. “The suit is dismissed for want of merit. I enter judgment in favour of the defendant and award a cost of N15 million against the plaintiff.”
