Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has promised to further sports development in the state when elected into office in 2023.

Pastor Eno stated this while commissioning a standard tennis court donated by him to the Senior staff club, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

It would be recalled that Pastor Eno had in September this year, during a consultation visit to the Senior Staff Club, promised members a tennis court.

The sport-loving governorship candidate noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel has laid a solid foundation for sports developement which he said must be furthered for the engagement of youths and general wellbeing of the people.

He reiterated his plans to establish a sports academy to complement the Eket Stadium, which according to him, will help to discover and develop talents across the state and beyond.

The governorship hopeful thanked God for the grace and enablement to deliver on his promise.

He also appreciated members of the club for their expression of love and support and promised not to betray their trust and confidence when he becomes governor.

Earlier, the President of the club, Prof. Ini Jonah appreciated Pastor Eno for the laudable donation saying he was surprised that the project could be delivered earlier than they had anticipated.

He noted that the court was the best in the state and could host any international tennis competition and prayed that God will continue to bless Pastor Eno and grant him his heart’s desires.

Also speaking, former President of the club, Prof. Trenchard Ibia said the timely fulfilment of the promise is indicative of the character of Pastor Eno which he said is deserving of general support.

Describing Pastor Eno as man who has integrity, he urged members to queue behind him because he will deliver on the promises he is making for a greater Akwa Ibom.

Others who also spoke such as Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Imoh Moffat, Commissioner for Works and Fire service, Prof Eno Ibanga, and Head Department of Political Science Department of the University – Dr. Basil Onuoha commended Pastor Umo Eno for his giving spirit and assured everyone that the PDP governorship candidate holds the key to a more robust and peaceful Akwa Ibom State from 2023

The very colourful event attracted eminent sons and daughters from across the state especially within the academia and political class including; the Secretary-General of Pastor Umo Eno/Akon Eyakenyi campaign, Prince Enobong Uwah, Campaigns spokesperson, Prince Chris Abasieyo, serving and former members of the House of Representatives, and state House of assembly, serving and past Commissioners and many others.
