…says Akpabio supporters are bootlickers, hungry
The Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Chris Ekpenyong has revealed that Chief Godswill Akpabio lost the 2019 election because his ambition to return to the Senate was against the interest of the people.
He unearthed this through a response issued by his media aide, Mr. Providence Essien to a group of supporters and loyalists to Chief Akpabio, called the Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF).
Senator Ekpenyong explained that in 2019, when he was campaigning across the 108 wards of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, the four federal constituencies had an agreement that he should go to the senate and complete the tenure of Ikot Ekpene federal constituency which Chief Akpabio started for another four years, pointing out that as a man who believes in equity, justice, and fair play, he agreed to the pact.
The former deputy governor to Obong Victor Attah in 1999 said that with the collective resolve of the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and the will of God, he won and Senator Godswill Akpabio lost because he was against the interest of the people.
The well-respected and cerebral senator recounted that at no time was Senator Akpabio pronounced winner in the election, neither by INEC nor the court where he frivolously sued him and lost, wondering where, how, and when Akpabio could have possibly won.
He disclosed that as an elder brother to him (Akpabio), he will advise him again to forget about contesting the 2023 elections and go home and rest because the defeat of 2019 will be child’s play compared to that of 2023.
Chief Akpabio who got the APC ticket through litigation will be facing a formidable and popular candidate of the PDP Emmanuel Enoidem who is well-established at the grassroots and has been unanimously endorsed by stakeholders of the senatorial district across party lines.
Taking swipe at Akpabio’s group, the ADF, Senator Chris said: “Senator Akpabio should call the board of directors of his busybody, interloping and propaganda-selling industry, the so-called Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum to order. This issue is bigger than their scope and their myopic input or opinion is not welcome. If they are this jobless, I have a farm that can gainfully employ them, so that they can have a dignified occupation to feed themselves and forget about jumping from one politician’s gate to another to be able to buy food because a hungry stomach will always be a wrong political adviser”
He thereafter called on “the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District to disregard the rantings of the self-acclaimed Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum because “they are black market journalist syndicates; a bunch of frustrated bootlickers and petition writers” who were used between 2007-2015 to insult respected elders in the state.
“How can someone claim to win Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District when he lost Ukanafun, Oruk Anam, Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Ikono, Ini, Essien Udim, Obot Akara local government areas in the election? That can never be possible anywhere. Akpabio lost and will lose again come 2023,” he concluded.
