Father Kills Daughter In Akwa Ibom

A man, Sunday Etukudo,has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly killing his daughter, Ofonmbuk Sunday.

It was gathered that the suspect buried the corpse of her late daughter in the family compound at Omum Unyiam village in the Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, on Wednesday, the Command said the suspect alleged that the deceased held his private parts during a scuffle, adding that he hit her with a stick in retaliation and she died.

The statement read in part, “Based on credible information, on 9th October, 2022, at about 7.10pm, one Ime Sunday Etukudo of Omum Unyiam village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, unlawfully killed and buried his daughter, Ofonmbuk Ime Sunday, aged 20, at the family compound at Omum Unyiam village.

“The suspect alleged that there was a family misunderstanding which led to a fight and that the victim held his manhood and that he, in turn, used a stick to hit her on the head, which led to her death and that he decided to bury her in a shallow grave to cover his track”.
