A sociopolitical group, Nigerian Youth Association for Good Governance(NYAGG) yesterday paid a solidarity visit to the PDP Senatorial Candidate for Akwa Ibom South, Dr. Ekong Sampson.

The group in their message, conveyed by the President, Samuel Jim and Secretary, Emem Fenson, expressed satisfaction with Barr. Sampson’s candidacy and pledged their readiness to mobilize support and voting massively for Dr. Ekong Sampson and other PDP candidates. The group lauded Sampson’s rich political and legislative profile, describing the Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin as the best man for the Eket Senate job.

Responding, Barr. Ekong Sampson expressed appreciation to the group for believing and keying into his senate ambition.

Sampson said he has been overwhelmed by the tonnes of support that has trailed his candidacy. He thanked the group for ‘owning up his campaigns, noting that he will always protect the interest of youths while in the senate’.

The former State Lawmaker highlighted the major enablers of his senate candidacy to include zoning, experience and capacity. He stated that the decision of Eket Senatorial District Elders, who came together to agree that the 2023 Senate seat rotates to Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency remains sacrosanct.

The former State Environment and Petroleum Resources Commissioner noted that Eket Senatorial District was intrinsically linked with oil politics and that it will take someone in the ilk of himself as a former Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources to unlock the true potentials of the district, adding that he was going to the senate fully prepared.

Highpoint of the solidarity visit was the presentation of campaign materials to the senate hopeful. Present at the parley were Barr. Ini Ikott, former State Lawmaker for Onna and Director of Organisation, Ekong Sampson Campaign Committee, Hon. Mfon Nkantion, State Financial Secretary of the PDP and Engr. Uwem Akpan, Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Uyo Branch.
