We’ll Continue to Invest in Sports Devt – Pastor Umo Eno … Lauds Gov. Emmanuel For Huge Investments, Laurels in Sports

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has stated that Akwa Ibom State government will continue to invest in sports development for its immense benefits.

Speaking shortly after he performed the kick off of a friendly football match between Akwa United FC and Rangers International FC of Enugu at the brand new Eket Stadium, he noted that sports has remained one of the most unifying and entertaining engagements of man which must be sustained.

He commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for what he described as huge investments in sports development in the state with specific mention of the newly unveiled Eket Sports Stadium.

The governorship hopeful maintained that with appreciable investments in sports, the state has won different laurels since this administration’s inception in 2015.

It is on record that Akwa United won the Federation Cup in 2015 and played in the Africa-wide Confederation Cup for the first time, won the Aiteo Cup in 2017, while Dakkada FC got promoted in 2018/2019 season to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Also, for the first time, Akwa United won the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2021 after 25 years of trying.

He maintained that when elected, he will further the strides of the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration in sports development.

The match which attracted thousands of spectators within and outside Akwa Ibom State, ended with two unreplied goals in favour of Akwa United FC.
