This is not the first time I have given up an ambition for the peace of the state. 8th of June 2015, I got 18 members to the floor of the assembly to become the speaker of the House of Assembly. With 17 members lining behind me, we got into the floor (of the House) we did not see the mace, we did not see the clerk and we did not see the proclamation letter. An inauguration that was supposed to have taken place by 10 o’clock in the morning dragged till about 7pm in the night. At 5pm, the governor called a meeting and specifically asked me to step down. I stepped down without any condition.
“I love my state and I love my people and I will not be an agent of destabilization of the peace of the state. I can always make heavy sacrifice. I know that whatsoever that I am not able to become, my children or my grand children tomorrow will be able to become. So, today, it is the turn of Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and Akon Eyakenyi and I urge each and everyone of us to queue behind them and support them to succeed.”
