AKS government flags off payment of severance gratuity to former chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors

Akwa Ibom State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on Thursday 28th July, 2022, flagged off payment of severance gratuity to former Chairmen of council, Vice Chairmen and councillors across the thirty one (31) local government areas in the State.

The flag off ceremony took place at the Council chambers, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uyo.

In his remarks, the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs boss, Hon Frank Archibong, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for demonstrating great zeal towards improving on the welfare of Akwa Ibom people and human capacity building.

The Commissioner who was represented by the permanent Secretary, Elder Ini Ikie, informed that the payment is a continuous process which accommodates all
former Chairmen of council, Vice Chairmen and Councillors who who served between 2017-2020 and, would be paid in tranches.
He lauded them for their matured conduct, describing the process as transparent and peaceful.

In their seperate remarks, former Chairmen of Okobo, Hon Ubuo Ubuo, Nsit Ubium, Hon Udemeobong Bassey and that of Abak LGA, Hon Barrister Imoh Williams, who represented other Chairmen during the flag off ceremony, expressed sincere appreciation to the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for always keeping to his promise, reiterating their resolve to support the completion Agenda and succession plan of the Governor.

Speaking on behalf of all the councillors, Hon Grace Itohowo, former leader Ibeno Legislative Council and Hon Usen Bassey, from Nsit Ubium LGA, applauded governor Udom Emmanuel for his pragmatic leadership style and acknowledged that the Governor is a father with a big and accommodating heart.
They equally promised to effectively mobilize support for the PDP pledging their loyalty to the governor.

The flag off ceremony had in attendance, Directors and staff of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
