AKS PDP Adhoc delegate election peaceful, says Party Chairman

Thousands of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members on Saturday filed out and voted at their respective wards to elect three adhoc delegates that will vote to elect PDP flagbearers for the 2023 general elections.

The adhoc delegate congress conducted by the Ibrahim Umar led five man committee is holding in all the 329 wards in the state. Adhoc delegates elected from the Congress are expected to join other statutory delegates to participate in the May 7, 2022 House of Assembly primaries, May 12, 2022 House of Representatives primaries, May 14, 2022 Senatorial primaries as well as the May 28,29, 2022 presidential primaries.

Reports from the 31 local government areas across the state indicates that the Congress is generally peaceful with election materials arriving the polling units on time is being monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Addressing party members moments before the distribution of election materials to the various wards in Essien Udim LGA, the Chairman, Hon Anthony Luke, urged PDP members to remain peaceful and law abiding all through the duration of the exercise. He warned that any body who is not an indigene of Essien Udim not to attempt to go near any polling unit to vote, and admonished party men and women to vote for adhoc delegates of their choice. The Congress is currently going on across the 11 wards in Essien Udim LGA.

In Awa Ward 1 where PDP presidential aspirant and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel voted, Ubong Akpan Ekefre, Nkanang Nkanang and Mercy Akaninyene emerged as delegates according to election results announced by the Chapter Returning Officer, Obonganwan Tony Akpan and Ward Returning Officer, Deacon Wisdom Michael.

In Odoro Ikot Ward 2, Essien Udim LGA, Obong Francis Abuji, Mr Victor Akpan Umoh and Mrs Blessing George Akara emerged winners.
