Pastor Umo Eno visits First Lady’s family

As count down to the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) begins, leading aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has visited the family of the First Lady, Dr (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel.

Addressing the family, Pastor Eno noted that the visit was unconnected with politics but to pay respect to the First Lady’s family who according to him, has been a strong force behind the success of the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration.

Pastor Eno who paid glowing tribute to the First Lady, said she has been a very good ambassador of the Royal family through her humble and amiable disposition.

He noted that the governor’s wife has been instrumental to the favour and support enjoyed from the governor, stressing that his family will continually remain grateful to the Royal family of Late Obong Ikpaisong Sampson Udo Idiong.

The seasoned entrepreneur appreciated the family for the support given him thus far, and appealed for more support and prayers.

Also speaking, wife of the leading aspirant, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Eno said the First Lady has been a role model and mentor to the women in the state which she attributed to good parenting.

She thanked the first lady for aligning with the Governor in support of her husband, saying that her visit has availed her the opportunity to tap from the blessings and wisdom of the Royal family as reflected in the life of the first lady.

Presenting the aspirant, the Director General of the consultation team, Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN said the visit was to pay respect to the descendants and the memory of the late patriarch, Late Obong Ikpaisong Sampson Udo Idiong.

He recalled that the late patriarch made laudable contribution to what has culminated into the present day Akwa Ibom adding that he was an epitome of selfless leadership.

According to him, “we are here today to pay respect to his memory and to you the children, and especially the mother of this state. The First Lady is an epitome of motherhood, she treats women with respect and acts as a role model to them. She treats everybody with respect and has exhibited her regal and good family upbringing.”

He noted that Pastor Eno is a thorough bred son of Akwa Ibom who has been favoured by God and man, urging them to continue to support and pray for him.

On his part, the International Chairman of the Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), Barr Emmanuel Enoidem said it was the first time a governorship aspirant was consulting with the family of a sitting governor and that of the wife adding that the aspiration of Pastor Eno is a dawn of a new era.

He noted that Pastor Eno is the right choice for the state whom most people are proud to identify with, stressing that when elected, he would unite the state with rapid development and job creation while appealing for their continuous support and prayers.

Responding, the first son of the Royal Family, Prince Ubong Idiong appreciated Pastor Eno’s family and the team for the honour done them, Obiokpa and Oruk Anam as a whole.

Corroborating, other members of the family including Senior Elder Sunday Udo Idiong, Princes (Mrs) Emem Etim, and Prince Sampson Idiong in the speeches, noted that the family had already declared full support for the aspiration of Pastor Eno and prayed that God will guide, guard and grant him the grace to succeed.
