NCF President to play South East veteran’s cricket on Good Friday

The Nigeria Cricket Federation boss Mr Uyi Akpata is among elite veteran cricketers expected to play Easter Cricket game in the oriental city of Umuahia on Good Friday.

A report released by South East Cricket,(SECA) Coordinator, Mr Okogeri Ogbonnaya indicates that this social cricket event would mark the 3rd edition at Umuahia Township Stadium on 15th April 2022.

In southeast Nigeria, the tradition of veteran cricket matches has taken hold and has become the standard. SECA, project aims to bring together all cricket veterans to reminisce about their playing days while also exploring strategies to assist the game thrive in the zone and beyond.

This all important elites cricket game will come up to crown the Chuma Anosike Cup expected to roundup on Thursday in the same city.

The first veteran’s cricket match in the South East was conducted at St. Patrick College in Emene, Enugu state, while the second held in Imo State at Government Secondary School.

Besides, the convener, Mr. Chika Okoro, others expected veterans include, Ven. Prof. Jacob Onyechi, Barr. Chuma Anosike, Ogbonnaya Okogeri, Emeka Igwilo, Olisa Egwuatu, Ikem Asika, Alex Mbamalu, Tony Ajaelu, Emeka Onyeama and many others.

The 3rd edition of the SECA Veterans match is hosted by Eld. James Okwara with a special appearance by the Nigerian Cricket Federation President, Mr. Uyi Akpata.
