GOV ENO CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT TINUBU ON SUPREME COURT VICTORY • VOWS TO CONNECT AKWA IBOM WITH CENTER

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the final affirmation of his victory by the Supreme Court, saying it ends the litigations that trailed his emergence in the February 25, 2023 elections.

Reaffirming his support for the President Tinubu led- Federal Government, Governor Eno said though Akwa Ibom State is led by the Peoples Democratic Party, there was need to connect with the government at the centre to attract developments to the State.

The governor who was speaking during a “Thank You Meeting”with Christian Leaders in the State, Friday, at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, reassured of his commitment to lead a united and prosperous Akwa Ibom, to justify the confidence the church and entire people of the state reposed in him during the last gubernatorial election.

Governor Eno clarified that amid hardship occasioned by the ongoing economic doldrum across the nation, his administration remains committed to ensuring that Akwa Ibom people receive optimum value for revenue that accrues to the state.

He said, “when I say there is no money, I mean there is no money to throw around but there is money to do good things. There is money to do every good thing. Money to do investments will not be a problem in this state. Money by itself is a scarce commodity. If you throw money around like that, it will lose its value”.

Governor Umo Eno thanked the clergymen for the wholehearted support the church put up to see to his emergence as governor and for not allowing divisive ethnic sentiments to saturate the church community, urging them to strive to keep the church united, irrespective of political or ethnic affiliations, to be in sync with his administration’s disposition.

“What the devil is trying to do is to dissipate us and when we start fighting, they rejoice. Let’s look for them and tell them that politics is over. Let’s bring people back. Let build the united church so that we can have our strength.

“Let us join hands and support the Government. What the devil is trying to do is to dissipate us and when we start fighting, they rejoice”, he stated .

The State Chief Executive urged Church leadership to encourage members to be involved in democracy as means to ensuring emergence of good government and consequently improved on their welfare, and spoke of the need for faith-based organisations to evolve corporative societies and Non-Governmental Organization(NGO) to draw support from government and international organisations.

“I believe that any pastor preaching for the welfare of the people must endeavour to know how the people’s welfare will be taken care of. And the only way to go in this dispensation is through democracy and the church must be involved. So let’s organize this church. Let’s have our youth wings of the church do something.

“Let’s have our women wing do something. If we come up with that, it is easier to be supported”.

Earlier, State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bishop Christian Nyong, conveyed the satisfaction of the Church community with Pastor Umo Eno’s leadership strides and for his acknowledgement of the Church contributions to his emergence which, he said, has been demonstrated in the “Thank You Meeting” .

The CAN leader assured the governor that the meeting was a representation of the various blocks that constitute the church community in the State and will engender greater support of Christians in the state towards the success of the present administration being led by one of their own.

Highpoint of the meeting was a session of goodwill messages by Rev. Father Emmanuel Effiong of the Catholic Church, Archbishop Emmanuel Udofia of Methodist Church Nigeria and Archbishop Emilia Samuel of the She Priesthood International Ministry, SIM, unanimously reaffirming the Church’s satisfaction in the leadership strides showcase in the first 5 months of Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
