Bendel playmaker Nwachukwu: We really needed El-Kanemi Warriors win
Bendel Insurance midfielder Divine Nwachukwu admits the locker room is relieved after Saturday’s 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors.
It marked Insurance’s first win for the second round of the season after going five conservative games without a victory.
“It was important to get the three points, especially as we’ve not had a win in a long time. It was also a result which allowed us to expand the gap to the second placed by five points,” Nwachukwu told Lodgexpress official website.
“It was also a win that we desperately needed after our last five showings.
“It was a tough game against a team fighting to survive relegation and they held us in the first half. We needed that magic from Ismael [Seriki] and Ogunye [Austin] to get the better of El-Kanemi.”
On the performance of El-Kanemi Warriors, Nwachukwu added : “They showed against us that they don’t deserve to be where they are on the table.
“I hope it’s not too late for them to start climbing the table and get the results that they have shown they merit.”
