Lobi Stars attacker Joseph Atule score and assist in victory over Abia Warriors
Lobi Stars attacker Joseph Atule was pleased to score and assist in their 2-0 defeat of Abia Warriors.
Atule has now scored five goals and assisted six times this season, a total of 11 contributions in 12 games.
In a totally dominant display against Abia Warriors at New Jos Stadium, Atule was the main attacking threat and was awarded the Man of the Match.
Atule had seven shots on goal, five successful dribbles and 3 key passes. More importantly, Atule provided the assist for Abba Umar’s goal.
Speaking with Lodgexpress official website, Atule said, “We knew that this match was important for us. We had to return to winning after we shared points in Awka and that’s what we did. We played well and collected the three points.
“We had the chances to put the game beyond them. We created a lot and weren’t troubled too much in general. We’ve got a big week ahead of us. It was really important to get the win today. Now we have to focus on the tie against Rivers United and then Bayelsa United. They’re both demanding fixtures and we have to make sure we put in the performances required by Lobi Stars.”
Asensio while reacting when asked about his form in front of goal, added: “I really think I’m doing what I always spend time training for. You have to wait for your opportunity and take it when it comes – the goals are the reward.
“I’m equally pleased with the assists as well which is also my own way of contributing to the team’s success this season. Now we have to keep working hard as we’ve come to the most important period of the season. It’s all part of the process. I’m feeling good and I’m sure we’ll see even better games and more goals.”
