Akile: Lobi Stars can face Rivers United full of confidence
Lobi Stars utility man Monday Akile says they can go into their next game against Rivers United full of confidence after their 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors.
Akile returned to the starting lineup after being away for a while on international assignment with the Nigeria U23 and starred in the victory.
Ahead of their rescheduled fixture against Rivers United on Wednesday, Akile told Lodgexpress.com: “We know what we have to do against Rivers – repeat our performance against Abia Warriors.
“If we do, we can get something. Hopefully the lads will stay fit for the clash and we will give it a good go.
“We’re getting there as a team. The new lads who’ve come in are settling really well.
“If we keep progressing as we are there’s no reason why we can’t finish in the playoffs spot.”
Lobi Stars are on top of the group B standing with 23 points from 12 games with a game at hand while Rivers United are second on the group with 20 points from 11 games with two games at hand.
A win for Lobi Stars will establish a 6-point lead over Rivers United.
