Gombe Utd defender Alege Toyin: Winning all that matters at this point
Gombe United center-back Alege Toyin says the Savannah Scorpions are prepared to win ugly in order to recover from their tough start to the season.
The Gombe outfit have struggled in with positive results this campaign, but will be buoyed by their 1-0 win over Kwara United on Wednesday.
“That result was so important for us, because if we win four more game we can catch up with teams occupying the playoffs spot. But also it was important for our confidence,” Toyin told Lodgexpress.com.
“In moments like this, it is important to win. It does not matter how you play. You can play well, or badly, but the only thing that matters is that you win.
“Now we have to win this weekend’s fixture with Remo Stars. It is going to be tough, it is always difficult at Remo and last season we narrowly lost there 1-0 and we can better now.
“Maybe what we did on Wednesday will be good for us. Because it is not easy when you are playing well, and you’re not winning. But we’ve recovered from that.
“If someone had told us before the game that we were going to win 1-0, we would have taken it.”
