The Real ‘BULABA’ of the Tinubu Presidency

As a Nigerian, old enough to have witnessed our country go through a phase of genuine development, and during upheavals, I was right not to have been intrigued by Pa Tinubu’s desperate plans to rule Nigeria.
Chief Tinubu literally brought the current government into power, staffed it, recommended and saw through its key appointments.
In Lagos state that he ruled for eight years, his powers there have been more sweeping and gripping, till today. I’ve nothing against any Nigerian desperately wanting to rule his country. But such desire ought to be consensual, moderated and guided by common sense of decency, comportment and circumspection.
The idea of the APC standard bearer claiming personal rights, on behalf of Western Nigerians, to rule Nigeria, irritates. And his struggle now to separate himself from his party is crude, laughable and childish.
I think that by sensing his likely defeat in a fair 2023 elections, he has already begun to lambast President Buhari and his policies, which he pledged earlier on, to sustain. He is even talking about some fifth columnists in the presidency trying to sabotage his life-long dream to come to power in Nigeria. This is a hell of an about-face!
But in all these, I think aside the unconvincing professional handling of his campaigns and particularly, his political communication by his aides, his disturbingly fast declining health, is the greatest and worst source of his sabotage to the Tinubu Presidency dream. That’s the real “Bulaba” o!
He has lost his cognitive powers, physical capacities and sense of self-awareness. I often watch incredulously how political hustlers and carpetbaggers steer and wheel him about, from one political theatre to another, grinning, hooting and clapping at every gaffe and goof, momentary mental fog and physical failings of the man.
I’m shocked that his family, friends and associates have not stepped in to help the man and stop it.
Where are the elders of Western Nigeria, the elites, cultural organisations and intellectuals?
They need to stop this show of public disrespect to an ailing old man. There’s no sense in creating a Paul Biya in 2023 here.
