2023 Guber: We’re Strongly Behind You – COTR, Oro Union Tell Umo Eno

Two influential groups in Oro Nation, Council of Oro Traditional Rulers (COTR) and Oro Union have declared their support for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno.
The groups registered their support during separate consultation visits by Pastor Eno accompanied by his running mate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi and members of the campaign team.
Speaking at the COTR meeting, the Paramount Rulers of Okobo, Mbo, and Urue Offong Oruko, HRM Edidem Ita Okokon Ozosi, and HRM Ogwong Okon Asukwo Abang respectively, noted that they were solidly behind Pastor Eno.
COTR is the highest traditional and customary institution in Oro Nation, with only Paramount Rulers, Clan heads and holders of Oro titles of Ikpoto, Akpaha, Okete-Okete and Itai (for women) as members.
They expressed delight with the choice of their daughter, Senator Akon Eyakenyi as the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP, adding that the choice was an assurance that Oro interest will be well protected in the next administration.
Similarly, foremost socio – cultural organisation established in 1925, Oro Union stated that they will continue to pray for the success of Pastor Eno in the forthcoming elections.
President-General of the union, Bishop Etim Ante in his remarks highlighed the different needs and challenges of the area, he expressed confidence that when elected, Pastor Eno would attend to the areas of need.
Earlier in his presentation, Pastor Eno commended the group for hosting his team for the consultation, and assured that, if elected in the forthcoming elections, his administration would be all inclusive.
He noted that he was passionate about rural development, as captured in the ARISE Agenda, stressing that deliberate and concerted efforts would be made to ensure that commerce resumes in the shoreline.
The governorship hopeful who described the Oro Nation as his home, said he was aware of the security challenges along the waterways and assured that there would mechanism will be put in place to check piracy as well as ensure adequate security in that part of the state.
Pastor Eno who is a seasoned entrepreneur also assured that he would explore and harness all opportunities of wealth creation from the variety of natural resources available in the sea, adding that exploring the blue economy would be a major project in the next administration.
He therefore appealed to the groups to spread the message of the ARISE Agenda and mobilise members of their families, followers and those within their sphere of influence to vote for the PDP at all levels in line with the 5 over 5 philosophy.
