Cristian Romero delighted signing permanently with Tottenham: I’m so grateful

Cristian Romero is delighted to have signed permanently with Tottenham.

The Argentina defender saw his long-term loan from Atalanta transformed into a permanent deal on Tuesday.

Romero said: “I’m very happy indeed,” he smiled as he expressed his delight at signing with us permanently.

“It’s been a great bit of news over the past few days.

“I’m ever so grateful to the Club for the trust placed upon me. I want to return this trust by working, training and giving my all to the Club. That’s the only thing that matters. This to me is non-negotiable. I believe I show this in every match, every time I wear the Spurs shirt.

The defender also said: “Perhaps the highlight (of my time with the Club so far) would be the actual project that was presented to me, where I was going to play a particular role.

“I decided to take the challenge. The goal was to be one of the top teams in the Premier League and to be part of that project was an achievement. I’m joyous for that great step forward we’ve taken.

“We want to be competing against the best teams in the best tournaments. The Premier League is the best league in the world. The Champions League is the best competition with all the best teams. We’ll be there this year, competing, giving it our best to honour Tottenham. I believe that with the present squad we can reach the top.

“I believe that with the work the squad and the manager are carrying out, we are on the right path. We hope to keep this pace and reach the Champions League matches at an optimum level and reach the knock-out phases.”
