Akwa Ibom State government to unveil a world-class automobile assembly plant

The Akwa Ibom State Government is saturating the ground for the inauguration of many projects in the next few months, especially as the 35th Anniversary of the State’s creation is around the corner.

To this end, Project Establishment Firms have been enjoined to redouble efforts in order to deliver their projects on schedule.

The Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob during an interactive meeting on Thursday, 18th August, 2022 in his office with MIMSHAC Digital Limited, the firm handling the assembling of the automobile plant, assured that the State Government is interested in every viable project cited in the State.

While commending Governor Udom Emmanuel for putting in place programmes and policies to improve the living standard of the Akwa Ibom people, Mr. Bob reiterated the commitment of the present administration to ensure the sustenance of the economic sector of the state, for the benefit of the people.

The Economic Boss maintained that this initiative is as a result of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Industrialization strides, through various ways to create sustainability in the economic sector of the State.

Mr. Bob appreciated the delegation from MIMSHAC Digital Limited, stating that liaising with the supervisory ministry would iron out grey areas for the timely completion of the project.

The Commissioner opined that siting of various projects would place Akwa Ibom in the comity of States with economically viable projects, and increase the economic well-being of citizens. He further commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his developmental strides.

The Economic helmsman who later led a delegation to the Assembly Plant located at Ikot Ukap in Itu Local Government Area urged the Management to live up to the expectation of the government in order to achieve the desired result of the project.

He expressed optimism that with the level of work done at the site and the assurance of the Managing Director, Mr. Valentino Okorie, the Akwa Ibom Automobile Plant will commence operations within the life span of the present administration.

The Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Engr. Dr. Bassey Okon who was in the team, expressed delight at the project, describing it as innovative.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, MIMSHAC Digital Limited, Mr. Okorie described Akwa Ibom as viable for such a project and called for regularization of the Memorandum of Understanding.

Mr. Okorie pointed out that the Assembly Plant when operational would create more employment opportunities and boost the revenue profile of the state. He hailed the State Government for partnership.

The Assembly Plant has the capacity of assembling 108 cars and SUVs, 30 luxurious buses and conventional vehicles in a month.

At the event was a Technical partner, the Management Staff of MIMSHAC, and the Directors of the Ministry.
