PMAN to interface with music content users, increase royalty/levy

The Nation Working Committee of the performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria PMAN has issued authorization to Akwa Ibom Chapter of PMAN to review music content users in the state.

Speaking in an interaction with Newsmen, the state PMAN Governor Comrade Ime Charlie, stated that the authorization was imperative owing to the fact PMAN is in partnership with MCSN for a better coordination of Royalty/levy collection in line with the NCC law of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

In a join Congress of the Union at the Akwa Ibom State Cultural Centre,Abak road , Mr Charlie charged PMAN members to aquire operational licence and mandated the state union secretary to communicate to all members of the increase in prices which he said will help the union meet up with the development.

The Governor stressed the need for members to clearly speak on the price and present a receipt to their clients before embarking on any job so as to avoid embarrassment.

“I want to humbly appeal to you to always give your clients your working terms and conditions, if he is not satisfied then look for another job instead of bringing down yourself. ” Mr Charlie said .

According to a communique passed at the congress , PMAN governors said that price for Liveband will now be not less than N100,0000
cultural groups will also charge N100,000, Djs bandsets will be N40,000, one-man-band N50,000.

Mr Charlies also made it clear that all members of the union will only operate with valid union permit as well as operational ticket of N200 per job.

He warned churches who donate musical instruments for profitable gain to put a stop to it as the newly constituted task force will leave no stone unturned as they are set to bring defaulters to book .

“We have observed that many churches have been giving out their bands to even noon members of PMAN, we will not tolerate this any long . Any church that has musical instruments should keep it in the church to avoid being sanctioned. “Mr Charlie said.

Some members of PMAN described the development as liberation and commended Governor Charlie for the development even as members promised to work as a team to support the new price law of PMAN.##
